(૧) સંત વિના રે સાચી કોણ કહે
સંત વિના સાચી કોણ કહે
તા. ૨૫/૫/૧૯૭૯. સાંકરીથી વિદાય લઈ પ્રમુખસ્વામી મહારાજ રાયમ, મઢી, ઘાટા, ધામોદલા, તરસાડા, માંડવી, મધરકૂઈ, નાની નરોલીને પાવન કરતાં તા. ૨૫/૫ની સાંજે સાડા સાત વાગ્યે મોખડી મુકામે આવી પહોંચ્યા.
અત્રે ઠાકોરજી જમાડી તેઓ રાત્રિસભામાં લાભ આપવા પધાર્યા ત્યારે સભામંડપમાં પ્રથમ પગલું મૂકતાં જ તેઓની વિચક્ષણ દૃષ્ટિએ નોંધી લીધું કે: “સભામાં બાઈ-ભાઈનું આસન એક છે અને મહિલાઓની બેઠક મંચથી જરા નજીક છે.” તેથી મર્યાદા જળવાય તેમ વ્યવસ્થા ન થઈ ત્યાં સુધી તેઓ ઊભા રહ્યા અને સહપ્રવાસીઓને ટકોર પણ કરી કે, “કોઈએ આગળ આવીને સભા-વ્યવસ્થા જોઈ નહીં? જ્યાં જઈએ ત્યાં સભા પહેલાં બધું ધ્યાન રાખી જોઈ લેવું.”
મર્યાદાપાલન સંબંધી સ્વામીશ્રીના આ આગ્રહથી ગામના ભાવિકોને તેઓ પ્રત્યે ઘણો સદ્ભાવ થઈ ગયો. તે સાથે ગોઠવાયેલા શ્રોતાઓને સ્વામીશ્રીએ સંતના શુભાશયની વાત કરતાં કહ્યું:
“સંસારમાં જીવના હિતની વાત કોઈ ન કરે. બધા સ્વાર્થની જ વાત કરે.
“એક વાર પાંચથી સાત ઘોડેસવારો જતા હતા. વચ્ચે નદી આવી. એક અસવાર પાણી કેટલું ઊંડું છે તે જોવા ઘોડો લઈને ઊતર્યો પણ પાણીનું વહેણ ઘણું હતું એટલે ઘોડા સહિત તણાવા માંડ્યો. તે જોઈ બીજાઓએ પૂછ્યું, ‘કેમ છે?’ આ અસવાર તો તણાતો હતો. તેને થયું કે: ‘હું એકલો તણાઉં તે ઠીક નહીં.’ એટલે તેણે કહ્યું, ‘એય હાલ્યા આવો... હાલ્યા આવો...’ તેના ભરોસે બીજાએ પણ ઘોડા નદીમાં નાંખ્યા ને બધા તણાઈને દરિયાભેગા થઈ ગયા.
“જગતમાં માણસો પોતે તો તણાતા હોય પણ બીજાનેય ભેગા ખેંચે છે. સંત વિના સારા સુખની વાત કોઈ ન કરે. ‘બધું મૂકીને જવાનું છે’ એ વાત કડવી લાગે પણ હકીકત છે. માતા પુત્રને કડવું ઔષધ પાય તો છોકરો તાંબા જેવો થાય. તેમ જો જ્ઞાનની કડવી વાત સમજી રાખી હોય તો વાંધો ન આવે. ઘણા ભણેલા અને શહેરમાં વસતા લોકો પણ આદિવાસી જેવા હોય છે. પેલા આદિવાસી પાસે પૈસા ઓછા હોય એટલે ઓછો ને સામાન્ય દારૂ પીએ; ને આ પૈસાદાર તેનાથી વધુ ને સારો દારૂ પીવે. સંતને આપણને પોતા જેવા બનાવવા છે. એટલે તેઓ વચનરૂપી ચટકા મારે છે અને અજ્ઞાન ટાળે છે.”

Other than the Sant, Who Else Will Speak the Truth
May 25, 1979. Pramukh Swami Maharaj arrived in Mokhadi late in the evening. After his meal, Swamishri graced the nightly assembly. Upon stepping into the hall, Swamishri astutely realized with once glance that the males and females were sitting on one big mattress and the women were sitting a little too close to the stage. Swamishri stood there waiting until rearrangements were made in accordance to the sadhus’ disciplines. He also reminded those who were traveling with him, “No one came in advance and ensured the arrangements were proper? Wherever we go, we should ensure in advance as according to our disciplines.”
Swamishri’s insistence on following the disciplines of sadhus left a positive impression on the people of the village. During the assembly, Swamishri spoke:
“In this world, no one speaks about what benefits the jiva Everyone speaks about selfishness.
“Once, about 5 or 7 horseback riders were traveling together. They came across a river. One rider rode his horse into the river to check the depth of the water. However, the current was strong and he began to be carried away along with the horse. The others asked, ‘What is it like?’ This rider thought why should he be the only one to be carried away by the current. He yelled back, ‘Come along... come along...’ Trusting his words, the others set out into the river and all of them were carried away by the river.
“In this world, people themselves are carried away by the current, but they pull others with them. Other than the Sant, no one speaks of the higher bliss. ‘We have to leave this world leaving everything behind.’ - This truth is bitter but it is a reality. A mother gives her son bitter medicine to ensure he grows up strong. Similarly, if one understands the bitter but wise truths, then one will not encounter any problems. Even the educated people who live in the big cities are like the indigenous people. Those indigenous people have less money and drink ordinary alcohol; whereas, the wealthy have more money and drink expensive alcohol. The Sant wants to make us like himself. Therefore, he stings us with his words and rids our ignorance.”
